About DOMAS Pencak Silat
Pencak Silat is a traditional martial art from Indonesia — recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It combines graceful movement, self-defence, and rhythm, reflecting the harmony of mind, body, and spirit.
Domas Pencak Silat represents the lineage of West Javanese schools — Cimande, Cikalong, Cikaret, Cisera, and Syahbandar , and was brought to Australia by Pak Lesly Tayu Irawan in 1978. Since then, Domas has taught and performed across Melbourne for over 40 years — including schools, universities, and cultural festivals.
Today, David Bachsinar, founder Origins Martial Arts & Fitness, continues this legacy — teaching Silat as both a martial discipline and a creative art that develops courage, humility, and self-awareness.
